Homework

Homework

At Albemarle we strive to ensure that homework supports children and parents with their learning journey. Homework must be purposeful, linked to learning in the classroom and prepare our children for the next stage of their educational career.

The Purpose of Homework:

·        To consolidate and re-inforce skills and understanding

·        To extend school learning and involve parents in this process

·        To allow children to devote time to projects that excite and inspire them

·        To develop children’s confidence and self-discipline with meeting deadlines.

Reading:

We still ask that children read with an adult at least 10 minutes per evening as this is a vital part of developing your child’s reading & writing skills. Every child is given a Reading Record book so a clear record of your child's reading can be kept. We hugely appreciate all parental support with this; reading is such an important part of a child's education as well as being a doorway into new worlds.

Homework at Albemarle:

All children in Year 2-6 will be set homework on a Friday. It is then to be returned to school by the following Wednesday. All children will have a dedicated homework book or folder. If you ever have any questions regarding your child's homework, please do not hesitate in speaking to your child's class teacher.
