Reception is the next step along the Albemarle learning journey and is where we welcome children from our Nursery but also other Early Years settings. The stimulating child-lead environments enable all children to settle quickly, build a solid foundation and develop a readiness for future progress. From the second week of the autumn term we being teaching phonics using Little Wandle Letters and Sounds.
In Reception, staff complete an Early Years Foundation Stage Profile for each child. The Profile contains examples and samples of children’s learning and attainment. It also helps staff to plan an effective and appropriate curriculum for the next stage of their journey as the child moves in to Year 1.
The Early Years' curriculum consists of three Prime areas and four Specific areas.
Prime Areas
Communication and language
Physical development
Personal, social and emotional development
Specific Areas
